Already three on the launch pad as further confirmatio9n that the Viareggio Cup is a real passport towards professionalism. |
The president of the Centro Giovani Calciatori Alessandro Palagi makes the balance at the end of the 62nd edition of the Viareggio Cup 2010.
The last hooray bianconero still echoes in the Stadio dei Pini “Torquato Bresciani” and for Alessandro Palagi, the CGC president, starts already the 62nd edition balance. ‹‹We're more than satiefied of how it went the tournament. We reached ,as organizing company, all the goals we fixed, starting from the great media feedback. The new Viareggio Cup website had more than 1.700.000 visitors, an incredible result, that in any case we scheduled. We have to thank the Rai that broadcasted nineteen matches and gave with its commentators an excellent service for the tournament and the soccer fonds. Everyone lived the base of soccer closely, the best part of the show, the pure one››. An high level big-final:‹‹Juventus won, but Empoli proved to be a great team. Good match and great public as always in the big-finals. I'm only sorry for the foreig clubs could not oppose as we expected, as for the potentialities of many of them. In any case rhi all proves our soccer values at every level››. The serie D representative arrived in the semifinal: ‹‹It's a good message for the professional soccer. Also among the Dilettanti there are young talents that in perspective can be useful for all italian soccer››. Thanks and goodbye: ‹‹Thanks and goodbye to everyone. Players, coaches, clubs' guides, referees and staff members. Thanks to our volunteers who supported us in this event. We give appointment to next edition, the 63nd. It's going to start on the 21st of February and end on the 7th of March 2011. Wishing that a talent like Immobile could take high our ‹‹Golden Boy›› he deserved. Last year it honoured Marilungo, I hope the tradition continues also with Immobile››. |

In the Juventus winning its 7° Viareggio tournament (the 5° in the last 8 years and the 2° consecutive), there's also who has time for breaking the goal made in one edition record reaching the number of total goals. It's Ciro Immobile, the Viareggio Cup recordman. The young goal-maker bianconero (whom in this edition already had his debut in the Champions League with the first team in Bordeaux) with his decisive three goals (the 2° personal in this edition) in the big-final against Empoli reached the 10 goals (4 on penalty) and besides winning the top goal-scorer title, he broke the number of goals in one edition record, overcoming the 8 goals by his former team mate Daud (who made those goals in the last edition that they won) and by Banchelli (with Fiorentina in 1992). Immobile, who in last year final won 4-1 against Sampdoria made a double goal, is also the first player making three goals in the big-final. But the promising centre forward from Torre Annunziata (who received also the prestigious Golden Boy, at his 2° edition and won last year by Marilungo of Samp) did not stop here, reaching also the number of total goals at the Viareggio tournament. This special record was Renzo Cappellareo's one (year 1937) who, in the Fifties, playing consecutive editions from 1953 to 1956, with Lanerossi Vicenza shirt made 14 goals. The same number made by the number 9 of the Juventus Primavera Ciro Immobile, who made them in only two editions (4 in the past one of 2009 and the already mentioned 10 in this year one). Really a ' Super' Immobile!

IMMOBILE: ‹‹VICTORY DEDICATED TO ALESSIO AND RICCARDO›› |
Monday, 15 February 2010 18:23 |
Ciro Immobile, author of three goalsin the final against Empoli and topgoal-scorer of the Viareggio Cup with 10 goals, speaks.
Happiness and memory. The thought, the first, the more immediate. A white shirt and those words ‹‹Riccardo and Alessio always with us››. And a tragedy, that of the two Beretti boys, Riccardo Neri and Alessio Ferramosca, died accidentally in Vinovo on the 14th of December 2006; and him, Ciro Immobile, does not want to forget them. A brief moment, but intense. Something like a prayer, in explaining his shirt sense, that seems isolated with respect to his team's happiness and celebrations. Then, as it has to be, happiness and celebrations involve him too. And he, Immobile the centre forward Immobile, as a good Neapolitan boy, gives merits to the team all: ‹‹These three goals are the result of my mates good skills and concentration, they did their best to create the ideal conditions for a goal. It's obvious that it's been me making so many goals, as that is my role. But there's satisfaction because everybody was great ››. Immobile did never hide his link with the Viareggio Cup, bothfor the importance this tournament has at an international level, and for the public's heat for every goal he made and every ball he played. And, among the public, a special person, the girlfriend Annabella who, blocked in he traffic, could not be present. His heart, after all these goals, is all hers. Immobile between past and future. Past, remembering the three most exciting moments in his career: ‹‹Debut in Champions in Bordeaux and the two consecutive victories, 2009 and 2010, in the Viareggio Cup››. Future, between victories hunger that has not calmed down and hope to enterin the first team ambient: ‹‹We've other trophys to conquer, both the championship and Coppa Italia. We'll try to win more because we have the possibilities››. More space in the first team? ‹‹We'll see, the important thing is continue to do good with Primavera, for the future we'll see››. |

DONATI: ‹‹PLAYED AT PAR FOR ONE HALF, WHAT A PITY›› |
Monday, 15 February 2010 18:10 |
Ettore Donati, Empoli trainer, declarations at the end of the 62° Viareggio Cup final lost against Juventus.
Ettore Donati, Empoli coach, knew that today's match would have been difficult. Really difficult. Because the opponent was Juventus, not a whichever one. His Empoli tried to play at par. And it managed to do it in the first half. Only one goal difference at the end of the first 45' gave it a glimmer of hope. Then, Immobile cyclone swept away all his and all the team' recovery hopes. The reaction, the two goals in the final part of the match, were not enough, but in any case are a positive aspect in a tournament, Empoli's one, full of obstacles to face, but to remember: ‹‹We tried, we knew we were facing a strong team, that had an easier way than us. I can say I'm satisfied in any case for these two weeks played at our best, intensely and with a great will››. And about the perspective of passing to the first team, Donati's answer is precise: ‹‹There were a lot of managers in the stand, surely after this match they'll evaluate what they think appropriate››. |

Juventus coach Luciano Bruni declarations at the end of the final won against Empoli.
At the end of the match everyone rejoicing, hugging and expressing their happiness for such a good and deserved victory. While him, Luciano Bruni, the coach, is touched. Besieged in the middle of the pitch by journalists, he shows with pride the medal obtained for the victory of the Coppa Carnevale against Fiorentina, as a player, in 1978. A medal he gave to his father until when he died, last year. Emotion. A way to express his satisfaction for winning the Viareggio Cup, as trainer this time. ‹‹It was not easy to do the same, we've been great››. These his first words, after a triumph still to be celebrated. Though the evident emotion, Bruni does not forget his comment on this match and on all the tournament of his Juventus: ‹‹In the seven matches played in these two weeks we had positivre but also negative moments. But in the negative ones we reacted, we showed our claws, in a mentally hard tournament››. About the recordman Immobile substitution, he explains: ‹‹I took him out because he was not feeling good. He had a great tournament, like all the team››.
